Animal Establishment Licensing Conditions

Summary

Certain animal establishments require a licence from the Environmental Services Department. This is so that we can regulate animal welfare standards.

Animal establishments require licensing with the Environmental Services Department. This is in order to regulate animal welfare standards.

For many years now Babergh has been working towards adoption of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Animal Boarding and Breeding Licence Conditions.

From 1st of January 2008, the Model Conditions for:

  • the licensing of breeding establishments
  • the licensing of dog boarding establishments
  • the licensing of cat boarding establishments

which were first published in October 1995, have been adopted by Babergh District Council as the Council's standard conditions for animal establishments.

Please be advised that the 'Other Relevant Legislation' sections of these Conditions are out of date and as such should not be relied upon.

The general principles of this legislation, however, will apply and for details of the up-to-date legislation and for further advice, please contact Environmntal Services on 01473 825892
