Community Achievement Awards 2006

Summary

Community Achievement Award Winner 2006 - Bernard Lean and Christopher Moss and their contribution to the community.

Bernard Lean and Christopher Moss

Bernard and Chris are nominated for their work in securing a new Community Hall for the village of Acton. Bernard has been the Treasurer of the Village Hall Committee for 13 years and Chris has been Parish Council Chairman for 30 years. Chris is also the project co-ordinator for the new Hall. The two have worked together since 1992 on securing funding for the new Village Hall and in 2002 Lottery funding of £298,000 was granted.  An additional grant from the Football Foundation secured the project and finally allowed work to begin. The pair suffered many months of worry and sleepless nights as they worked to keep the project alive, undertaking all the old hall clearance work together with decorating the new hall. The village say that without the efforts of these two people the new Village Hall would never have materialised.
