Community Achievement Awards 2006

Summary

Community Achievement Award Winner 2006 - Jane Arkell and her contribution to the community.

Jane Arkell

Jane is nominated for her outstanding dedication to volunteering. She is retiring in March after 15 years of service both as Organiser and Senior Co-ordinator of Home Start. Home-Start seeks to support young families with matched volunteers both in rural and urban areas and since 1990 Jane has led a team of volunteers. Jane's tasks included seeking and sustaining adequate funding for the Scheme often in difficult financial times. The voluntary time that Jane has given runs into thousands of hours and she always goes the extra mile to maintain the highest standards. Countless families have benefited through Jane's professional but compassionate approach and based on her successful work other Home Start Schemes have developed within Suffolk.
