Community Acheivement Award Winner 2006 - Pauline and Mike Ewart and their contribution to the community.

Pauline & Mike Ewart

Pauling and Mike are retired and have devoted over 10 years towards leading community efforts to undertake a myriad of projects and activities relating to wildlife conservation and protection and enhancement of the natural environment in the area. These include Founder and Committee members of the Shotley Peninsula Branch of the Suffolk Wildlife Trust organising many events for the community; leaders of the Alton Water Volunteer Group where they have helped habitats to attract a rare wildlife; the provision of a community-owned trailer for local environment work; restoring of a Classic Ford Dexta tractor for community conservation work; voluntary maintenance of hedges and common land; securing of a historical "paupers burial ground" and management as a nature reserve.  Mike has also been the local tree warden for many years. Their work has benefited all who either live in or visit the area.
