Community Acheivement Award Winner 2006 - Sarah Smy and Justin Smith and their contribution to the community.

Belstead Special School Council

Belstead Special School Council has 11 student members between 11 and 19 years and received a young achievers award for its work within the School community. The Council was represented at the awards ceremony by Sarah Smy and Justin Smith.  Sarah acts as Chairman of the Student Council and is a real ambassador for the School. She has also attended advocacy meetings within school run by ACE and has also represented young people with learning difficulties at conferences.  Some of the work achieved by the School Council is a new Code of Conduct reproduced in symbol form, lunchtime clubs where students are allowed to develop choices and independence and fundraising for charities such as Comic Relief.
