Rhona Damant (posthumous award)
Rhona was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 and died last November. Her brave battle with cancer touched the hearts of many people who were inspired by her weekly diary in a local newspaper portraying life as a mother with breast cancer. She also raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities and local hospitals in order that they could fund specialist medical equipment. Rhona gave so much and over the last few years has inspired and encouraged the local community to understand more about life and death. Rhona's award was received by her husband David and two children Francesca and Kristopher.
