LOCAL STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Summary

A Local Strategic Partnership is a body that brings together the local council with other public services in the area and representatives of the business, voluntary and community sectors.

A Local Strategic Partnership is a body that brings together the local council with other public services in the area and representatives of the business, voluntary and community sectors.

The aim for Local Strategic Partnerships is to contribute to community planning by leading the development of a long-term vision and strategy for the area that they cover.  They should do this by rationalising the many local plans and partnerships currently required by government and bring them within the framework of a “Community Strategy”.

In plain English, the Local Strategic Partnership is there to ensure everybody works together to common, agreed goals and without unnecessary duplication.  By working closer together, a greater understanding of community needs develops along with the ability to develop solutions that include the expertise of all the public sector bodies, community groups, local businesses and volunteers.

Babergh District Council is a member of the West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership (WSLSP) which is committed to making life better for people in West Suffolk. To find out how we are helping, please view the website at One Suffolk's West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership web page

Although Local Strategic Partnerships are based on local authority boundaries, in Babergh we have two – the WSLSP, mentioned above, and the Babergh East Local Strategic Partnership.
