The New Wolsey Studio - 5th June
Pramface is a sharp comedy and a terrifying thriller all rolled into one. Hilarious, yet chilling - I enjoyed every minute of it.
Feisty, bitchy chavette, Pramface (Lizzie Hopley) is outraged when Danny Wells, her teenage neighbour, is humiliated on national television, and labelled by the media as `Arcade Face`. After Danny mutilates his face using razor blades this play becomes a thriller, as Pramface seeks revenge.
The plot was surprising and throughout the play I thought of many different possible endings - none of which were remotely like the actual one! This play is very politically relevant, as in today's world image is everything.
Lizzie Hopley was incredible. Completely alone, with only props to aid her, she kept the audiences full attention for the duration of the play. She switched smoothly between characters Pramface and magazine editor Holly. The personalities of other characters were also wonderfully portrayed, using only the technique of voices off. Lizzie is obviously extremely talented, as not only did she perform excellently, she actually wrote the play as well.
I have never seen anything quite like Pramface. It was fun, and I would strongly recommend it.
