The New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich 1st December - 21st January
As soon as we entered the auditorium we were given the impression that the show to come would exceed our expectations. This is exactly what happened.
The show is a fantastic display of qualities such as: music, song and dance making it a brilliant night out for the whole family. Incredibly entertaining - a perfect beginning, or end, to the festive season.
A spectacular performance was given by all of the cast, especially Ian Conningham, playing Dame Taffeta Trott. He was particularly funny and interacted well with the audience. The show as a whole was humorous, including slapstick comedy as well as more mature jokes.
A wide range of songs, both modern and classic, were performed by the multi-talented cast. Impressively they all played at least two instruments and had powerful voices that filled the auditorium with excitement and anticipation. Those that stood out were Morgana the Malevolent (Ally Holmes) and Frederica (Shirley Darroch).
The lighting was effective, creating a magical atmosphere for the fantastical story of "Sleeping Beauty".
The set also added to this mood, with large pink roses draped with fairy lights. The scene changes were fast and neat, which held the audiences' attention and kept the pace energetic.
This is a show worth taking the entire family to see, as it appeals to the child in all of us. You will go away feeling uplifted. Don't miss out on the fun.
