'The Price' by Arthur Miller is an awe-inspiring, thought-provoking story which gives a brilliant insight into how one life can affect so many others. It is set in America after the Wall Street Crash and focuses upon the difficult lives of Victor, Esther and Walter Franz and Gregory Solomon, a furniture dealer who provides some humorous light relief within the otherwise serious play.
The characters manage to draw the audience's attention, and hold it, with their philosophical points of view and the moral dilemma between the two brothers Victor and Walter. The set is crowded with old furniture, which we felt created a sense of intimacy between the audience and the characters. You will find yourself understanding and sympathising with each individual character as the truth about their lives slowly emerges.
The only disadvantage to this play is that it is certainly more suitable for an older audience, we think that younger generations could be a bit overwhelmed. But, overall, we did really enjoy this production and it gave us a lot to think about!
