Jess Counsell and Bronte Nicoll are year 10 students at Holbrook High School and are studying Drama and English courses. Both students have a keen interest in drama and theatre and see this as an opportunity to learn about deadlines and develop their critique writing skills.
Their first review will be - If That’s All There Is – inspired by the Peggy Lee song. This is the latest show from Inspector Sands – a young company with a big talent who are recent winners of the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Claire Treadwell, Head of Communications at The New Wolsey Theatre, commented: “We’re delighted to work with Babergh District Council again to deliver the Young Theatre Critics Project. The scheme provides students with the unique opportunity to become reviewers for the year with the support and guidance of a professional industry reviewer. It has also proved invaluable in developing the skills and confidence of the students whilst helping to raise the profile of the New Wolsey’s programme to a younger audience.”
Jill Barton, Babergh District Council's Community Development Officer added "All our student critics are really committed and I am looking forweard to reading some great reviews. The New Wolsey are again staging some fabulous productions this autumn and our students are in for a real treat. This is another example of Babergh working in partnership with theatres and it is great to be able to give young people from our district this fantastic opportunity to review a range of exciting productions."
