Student Theatre Critics (The Quay)

Summary

Babergh District Council is working with The Quay Theatre in Sudbury to give two students from Sudbury Upper School an opportunity to become theatre critics

Hanna Bunting and Hayley Bean are both year 10 students studying Drama at Sudbury Upper School .

This project will both enrich their studies and develop their writing skills. Their first review will be a performance by Abbie Lathe and The Lovelies, a group of excellent singer songwriters playing captivating instruments. For traditional music lovers, the Mingulay Boating Song interwoven with an ancient language Nord song is truly memorable.

Jill Barton, Babergh District Council's Community Development Officer, said: “Both our students are really committed and I am looking forward to receiving some great reviews from them. The Quay is staging some really good productions this year and our students are in for a real treat. This is another example of Babergh working in partnership with theatres and it is great to be able to give young people from the west of our district this fantastic opportunity to review a range of exciting productions.”

Robert Benton, Chief Executive Officer at The Quay Theatre added: “Theatre criticism has always been an important part of the whole business of drama and music. I am very much looking forward to reading the opinions of these young people. I think the Autumn season at the Quay is all marvellous.”

Abbie Lathe and The Lovelies are performing on Friday 25th September at 8.00 pm. For more information please call the Quay Theatre box office on 01787 374745 or visit the Quay Theatre website.
