Babergh District Council is working with the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich for a third year to give two students at the Royal Hospital School Holbrook an opportunity to both review and promote theatre performances within their school.
Following on from last year’s successful partnership with the Theatre and Hadleigh High School, the Royal Hospital School at Holbrook has been chosen for 2006/07. The project again requires the selected students to be studying arts and drama and have an interest in journalism.
Christina Sutton and Henry Petrides (pictured below) are the students who will be the reviewers this year. They are both in Year 11 and aged 15. Their first review this year will be Romeo and Juliet and will take place on Tuesday 31st October. The production runs until 4th November and combines imaginative staging, vibrant verse and striking physical imagery to breathe life into the greatest love story ever told.

Susie Tyrrell, Babergh District Council’s Arts and Community Development Officer and Jill Barton, Corporate Support Officer are again promoting the scheme at Babergh. Susie commented “We are very excited about this year’s project and are delighted about the variety of productions the young people will be reviewing. The project with Hadleigh High School was so successful last year that the students are now ambassadors for the New Wolsey Theatre within their school!”
New Wolsey Marketing & Press Officer Sharon Jenkins commented "We are delighted to continue this scheme with Babergh District Council and look forward to working with Christina and Henry. We were impressed by the commitment shown by last year's team who produced professional reviews to deadline often from a unique perspective because of their age. This scheme is helping to generate a new generation of critics and encouraging younger audiences to engage with theatre."
