We are responsible for collecting Council Tax. The organisation who decides what band your property is in, is the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).
What is a Council Tax Band
The majority of dwellings are subject to Council Tax. There is one bill per dwelling, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented.
Each property is allocated to one of eight bands by the Valuation Office, the band it’s in depends on its market value as at April 1st 1991. If you have a query with your property banding contact the Valuation Office.
