An Extraordinary Meeting of the Babergh District Council will be held in the Council Chamber, Council Offices, Corks Lane, Hadleigh on TUESDAY 19 JUNE 2007 AT 9.30 A.M. to consider the Council’s response to Ipswich Borough Council’s Unitary Proposal.

The proceedings will be opened with Prayer.

In accordance with Council Procedure Rule No. 13, the Chief Executive will report the receipt of any petitions. There can be no debate or comment upon these matters at the Council meeting.

QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS

The Chairman of the Council and the Chairmen of Committees and Sub-Committees to answer any questions on any matters in relation to which the Council has powers or duties or which affect the District and which fall within the terms of reference of that Committee or Sub-Committee of which due notice has been given in accordance with Council Procedure Rule No. 15(4) (a) and (b).

IPSWICH BOROUGH COUNCIL UNITARY PROPOSAL – CONSULTATION RESPONSE

The Chief Executive to report that, as indicated at the Annual Council meeting, it has been necessary to call an Extraordinary meeting of the Council, in accordance with Council Procedure Rule No 3. This will enable Babergh’s response to the consultation on the Borough Council’s proposal for a single Council for Ipswich to be submitted to the Department for Communities and Local Government before the deadline of 22 June 2007.

Copy of report (Paper G30) by the Chief Executive attached. A draft consultation response will be circulated shortly as an appendix to that report.
