LICENSING AND APPEALS COMMITTEE

MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE LICENSING AND APPEALS COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER, COUNCIL OFFICES, CORKS LANE, HADLEIGH ON THURSDAY 13 JULY 2006

RESOLVED

That the minutes of the meetings held on 25 April and 4 May 2006 be confirmed and signed as correct records.

None received.

24     GAMBLING ACT 2005 CURRENT STATEMENT OF LICENSING PRINCIPLES DOCUMENT

The Head of Natural and Built Environment submitted a report (Paper F47) advising that the Gambling Act 2005 places new functions and responsibilities, for the issuing of licenses and permits for gambling / gaming premises, on local Licensing Authorities.

One of the first functions for a Licensing Authority under the new legislation is to prepare and publish a statement of the principles it will apply when dispensing its new functions and this was attached as Appendix 1 to Paper F47.


RESOLVED

That the draft Gambling Act 2005 “Statement of Licensing Principles” document attached as Appendix 1 to Paper F47 be approved and that the appropriate officers proceed with a commencement of a period of statutory consultation in accordance with the Gambling Act 2005 regulations.

The business of the meeting was concluded at 10.05 a.m.
