Financial Help for Insulating Your Home

Summary

Information about how to obtain cavity wall insulation and loft insulation at substantially reduced prices.

Home Improvements

With some simple energy saving home improvements, you can save money, improve the comfort of your home and help fight climate change.
An energy efficient house makes sense. It's cheaper to run and it could be a key selling point if you choose to sell your house.

Discounted Insulation Schemes

These schemes are usually funded by gas and electricity utility companies to bring homeowners special Home Insulation offers

  • Cavity Wall Insulation and loft insulation at substantially reduced prices.

There are several discounted insulation schemes available to help you increase your loft insulation and install cavity wall insulation to reduce your heating bills where these measures are appropriate.

Many of the schemes are subsidised by the electricity and gas utility companies who are required to secure reduced Carbon Dioxide emissions.  Always check with your gas and/or electricity provider to find out what insulation offers are available.

On the 20th of October 2009 the Eastern Carbon Reduction Initiative (CRI) was launched with the aim of insulating every cavity wall and uninsulated loft in eligible properties in the area.

The scheme provides one telephone number booking across the region which directs queries to approved contractors who can maximise external funding and ensure discounts are passed on to homeowners. At the time of the launch owners in receipt of means tested benefits could have their lofts and cavities insulated for free whilst the average price for other owners was £149 for cavity wall insulation and £149 for topping up lofts with less than 65 mm (2.5 inches).
