How To Look After Your Wheeled Bin

Summary

9 simple steps to care for your bin. Advice on how to look after your wheeled bin

  1. Your wheeled bin is only designed for the purpose of waste collection.
  2. Substances such as Oils, Paints or Chemicals must not be put into the wheeled bin.
  3. Please ensure that the bin is not overfilled. The lid should be closed, if not it may not be possible to empty the bin safely and the bin will be damaged. Too much weight could cause either you or the refuse crew personal injury.
  4. Keep the lid closed. This keeps the waste dry, flies, insects and animals out, and 'smells' in.
  5. Store the bin on level ground.
  6. Use the handles when moving the bin.
  7. Keep your bin clean by rinsing with water and household detergent, using a broom to clean the sides.
  8. Do not sit or stand on the bin, it is unsafe and it will move.
  9. Please support Babergh District Council in its efforts to reduce waste and increase the amount that is recycled.
