Residents are referred to the Council’s Refuse Collection Policy on householder responsibility regarding bin ownership.
You may need to purchase a new wheeled bin for one of the following reasons:
New Home
You have either moved into a new home where bins have not been provided by the developer, or into a home where the previous owners may have removed the bins. In either case, if you purchase a black bin from the Council, you will receive a blue bin for recyclable materials free of charge.
You can purchase a new bin here: Online Request New or Replacement Bins form.
Lost, stolen or damaged bin
Your bin has been lost, stolen or damaged beyond use. Replacement bins are available from the Council at rates which are very competitive with the retail sector (and include delivery). Second Hand bins are sometimes available at reduced rates.
Taken by the refuse collection vehicle
If your bin has been ‘swallowed’ by the refuse collection vehicle during the emptying process, your bin will be replaced free of charge. However, please contact the Refuse Hotline number 0845 6066045 (Local Rate Call) to ensure that we are informed of the loss.
You would prefer a different sized bin
Also, if you wish to have a larger or a smaller bin, then please contact the Joint Client Team (Mid-Suffolk & Babergh) on 0845 6066045 (Local Rate Call) or email recycling@midsuffolk.gov.uk. A fee may be applicable.
