Please help reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfill by home composting as much organic waste as possible.

Why Compost?

Composting at home is a great environmentally friendly way of disposing of your garden and kitchen waste. It helps to reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill, saves trips to the local tip with your grass cuttings and provides free food for your garden.

What can you compost?

  • Vegetable peelings and fruit scraps
  • Tea bag/leaves and coffee grounds
  • Annual plant and flowers
  • Crushed eggshells
  • Young hedge clippings
  • Old perennial plants
  • Straw and hay
  • Cardboard egg boxes
  • Wood chippings and sawdust
  • Shredded paper and scrunched up cardboard

  • Wood prunings and Leaves

Where can you get a compost bin from?

Babergh District Council has teamed up with Suffolk Waste Partnership and is now offering compost bins at extremely low prices – starting at just £15 plus £5.49 delivery!  Whatever the size of your garden, there is a bin available to suit!
Choose from:

  • The 220 litre Blackwall Compost Converter. Priced at just £15 plus £5.49 delivery 
  • The 330 litre Blackwall Compost Converter. Priced at just £18 plus £5.49 delivery
