We are aware that housing need goes beyond a shortage of rented housing. Our latest Housing Needs Survey completed in September 2004 confirms that over 96% of newly forming households are unable to buy even the cheapest one-bedroom flat in the Babergh area.
The Council is determined to help people on to the housing ladder and is working with partner Housing Association and Developers to provide a range of low cost homes for sale.
These are mainly in the form of shared ownership homes, for part-buy part-rent, but will also include some properties for outright sale.
