Applying for Housing

The government has asked all local authorities to introduce a new method of letting social housing called Choice Based Lettings. 

If you are an existing housing applicant you should have received a letter asking you to re-register for housing using the new on-line form. The letter will have given you instructions on how to complete the application form online and will also have notified you of your individual pin number. If you have not received a letter but have current application for housing with Babergh, please telephone 01473 825757 and we can tell you what your pin number is.

For new applicants, you will need to log on at the Home Choice website and complete the online form. You will then be given an individual pin number.

If you consider your housing need is more urgent please contact the Customer Services Team on the number at the bottom of the page.

An urgent need could include:

• Being homeless or about to be homeless
• Experiencing domestic violence
• Being in hospital and unable to return home

• Shared Ownership,
• Supported Housing,
• Homelessness.
