Babergh District Council will be hosting three public meetings in September to update residents as to the progress of its TwinBin waste collection scheme – a scheme which has seen Babergh’s recycling rates treble to nearly 33%.

The first meeting will take the form of an open session and will be held at Sudbury Town Hall on Thursday 9th September.  Members of the TwinBin Task Group and officers from the council will be on hand from 11.00 am to 2.30 pm to discuss concerns and answer any queries residents may have about the TwinBin Scheme.

Cllr David Wood, Chairman of Babergh’s TwinBin Task Group said “We are anticipating a particularly high turnout for the Sudbury Town Hall meeting on 9th September.  With Thursday being market day in Sudbury, hopefully the Town Hall location will be convenient for many people and they will take the time to come in and see us”.

The remaining two public meetings will include a presentation lasting half an hour followed by open sessions, again giving residents the chance to speak to Babergh officers and Members about any aspects of the TwinBin Scheme.   These will be held at the Stevenson Centre in Great Cornard on Tuesday 14th September and Capel St Mary Library on Thursday 16th September, with both sessions running from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

Mr Wood concluded by saying “Babergh hopes that there will be a good turnout for all three of the public sessions.  We have seen a tremendous rise in our recycling rates since the introduction of the Scheme, and the meetings in September will give Babergh residents an opportunity to have  their say”.

Following the meetings, Babergh’s TwinBin Task Group will report their findings to the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 4th October.
