Summary

Babergh investigators have completed the first stage in their detailed investigations into how the local public car parks could be managed and financed in the future.

Babergh investigators have completed the first stage in their detailed investigations into how the local public car parks could be managed and financed in the future.

Over the last few weeks, Babergh has sent out a number of staff to monitor usage levels in the car parks in Hadleigh, Lavenham and Sudbury.

“The aim of these investigations is to verify that the original research we conducted into how the car parks are used remains an accurate and valid basis upon which to conduct our further investigations” explained Cllr. Christopher Hunt, Chairman of Babergh’s Car Parking Working Group.

Armed with the most up-to-date usage figures, the Working Group will now meet with Hadleigh and Sudbury Town and Lavenham Parish Councils, as well as with the Chambers of Commerce of the two towns.

“As we all know doing nothing is not an option and we hope that by conducting the most thorough research into local parking and traffic management situations, the Working Group will be able to come up with viable long-term solutions” concluded Cllr. Hunt.
