Babergh District Council, aware of local concerns about continued vandalism to the Magadalen Road public toilets in Hadleigh, has written to the architects to see how the ‘vandal resistant’ structure can be repaired.
“Whilst the real responsibility for such damage obviously lies with the anti-social elements who commit vandalism, Babergh is keen to engage the ideas of the designers of the toilets – who also specified the materials used” explained Jonas Grist, Babergh’s Technical Officer (Waste).
Babergh is currently monitoring CCTV footage in an attempt to identify the vandals, but is also keen to repair the damage as quickly as possible to deter further destruction.
“Babergh backed the design on the basis that it would be vandal resistant and we are keen to explore how to put the damage right at no extra cost to Council Taxpayers. We are looking forward to a dialogue with the architects, Wincer Kievenaar, in the hope that they can provide a solution to this issue”.
