BUSINESSES IN BABERGH RECEIVE ‘BABERGH IN BUSINESS’

Summary

“As a business-friendly council, Babergh strives to ensure that local firms are kept up-to-date with issues that are most likely to affect them” explained Cllr. Nick Ridley, Babergh District Council’s Strategy Committee Chairman, on launching the magazine ‘Business in Babergh’.

“Over three-quarters of firms in Babergh employ four people or less, so it is not always possible for them to keep abreast of new developments. The aim of ‘Business in Babergh’ is to provide them with a handy guide to help plan for issues and opportunities in the year ahead. As a businessman myself I appreciate the value of any unbiased information sources” added Cllr. Ridley.

The eight page magazine is divided into three parts for ease of use: the bigger picture, grants, help and advice and a business update. Articles include information on the Haven Gateway Partnership, the Local Plan, advice on the Government’s new anti-smoking measures and feedback on the impact of the new licensing regulations – all from the perspective of business.

In addition, Babergh is using the magazine to publicise how the Council itself might be able to directly benefit local firms including through Business Workspace Grants, the Business Growth Loan Scheme and Small Business Rate Relief.

“We hope that ‘Business in Babergh’ will be a useful reference point for companies not just this month but as a directory for the whole of 2006” noted Neil Henry, Babergh’s Economic Development Manager.

‘Business in Babergh’ is being distributed to all of the 2500 local firms on Babergh’s database and at its Business Evening on 1st February.
