Budding musicians in Babergh with a love for rock, pop and urban music will have a chance to maximise their talent – and to top it off, the first autumn session is free!
The Amplifier Project, which started earlier this year, is back after a summer break and organisers believe it is bigger and better than ever with a new home and a chance for potential performers to unlock hidden talents.
The sessions are offering all musicians the chance to take part in different styles of music, develop skills and learn about gigging.
Anyone between the ages of 11 to 25 can take part in The Amplifier Project - even if they have never picked up a guitar, drum stick or tried to spin vinyl before.
The workshops, which used to take place at The Sudbury Arts Centre, will now take place at The Eden’s Project, 45 Gainsborough Street, Sudbury on Tuesdays from 6.30pm until 8.30pm and the first session on September 19 is free.
The following dates for this term’s sessions are: Sept 26, Oct 3, Oct 10 and Oct 17.
One of Babergh District Council’s five service priorities is: Raising Individual and Community Ambitions – and The Amplifier Project reflects this.
Susie Tyrrell, Babergh District Council’s Arts and Community Development Officer, said: “The Amplifier Project gives the opportunity for young people in the district, and the county, to experience music-making as a group of individuals and bands, to learn from each other and gain valuable skills from trained tutors and musicians.”
The project has been made possible with funding from Arts Council England East, Suffolk County Council, Babergh District Council and other Suffolk local authorities, along with the European Social Fund.
It aims to provide opportunities for young people to make, promote and discuss rock, pop and dance music.
Simon Doling, The Amplifier Project Officer, said: “We are really excited about this new term and hope that we will have lots of new people coming along to discover their musical talents or build on the experience they already have.
“Young band members and individuals who haven’t played music before are equally welcome.”
