Budding musicians who have been nurtured at Babergh-funded music workshops will be putting their creative compositions on display with a series of performances.
Youngsters from The Amplifier Project, which has just started up again after a summer break, will be showcasing their skills at Hadleigh Library’s Family Fun Day on October 8.
Louisa Gaylard and Shannon Hope, from the project, and Sarah Hunt, a singer and songwriter from the Eden’s Project, in Sudbury, will be taking centre stage while people choose their latest reads.
More local bands and promising DJ’s will also be displaying their wares at a one-off gig being held at AFC Sudbury Kings Marsh Stadium on December 14 at 7.30pm.
The final order of play still hasn’t been finalised and and young bands wishing to get involved are urged to drop into the workshops to pick up more information.
Anyone between the ages of 11 to 25 can take part in The Amplifier Project - even if they have never picked up a guitar, drum stick or tried to spin vinyl before.
The workshops, which used to take place at The Sudbury Arts Centre, are now being held at The Eden’s Project, 45 Gainsborough Street, Sudbury, on Tuesdays from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
The remaining dates for this term’s sessions are: Oct 3, Oct 10 and Oct 17. The new term then starts on Oct 31 and sessions follow weekly on Nov 7, Nov 14, Nov 21 and Nov 28.
The project has been made possible with funding from Arts Council England East, Suffolk County Council, Babergh District Council and other Suffolk local authorities, along with the European Social Fund.
It aims to provide opportunities for young people to make, promote and discuss rock, pop and dance music.
Simon Doling, The Amplifier Project Officer, said: “We are really excited about the upcoming gigs and hope to get as many people as possible discovering the local talent that is on offer.”
