Councillors on Babergh District Council’s Overview & Scrutiny (Community Services) Committee are vacating their normal Hadleigh meeting place and treading the boards at the Quay Theatre instead.

According Cllr. James Long, Chairman of the Committee, “Babergh gives the Quay Theatre an annual grant of over £48,000. Given that the Director is due to give us a presentation on 4th September about the facility’s achievements in the last year, we thought we’d take the opportunity to hold our meeting there – and take a look around at the same time and get a better idea as to how Council Taxpayers’ money is being invested”.

“We will be holding the Committee meeting in the auditorium and so hope that this will be a chance for residents in the Sudbury area – who may not find it convenient to come over to Hadleigh – to see how Councillors consider and debate issues of relevance to them” added Cllr. Long.

“I really do hope that with a district as varied and as large as Babergh, that we can continue to meet at other locations as is appropriate”.

The Councillors will be given a tour of the Quay Theatre at 9.30am with the Committee formally beginning at 10am.
