A GREAT BIG CHRISTMAS ‘THANK YOU’ TO SOME GREAT GREAT CORNARD KIDS

A group of Great Cornard children and young people, who have helped to keep their neighbourhood neat and tidy over the last year, are to be thanked by being invited to a party – at which Father Christmas may just pay a visit.

The Minsmere Way and Rede Way Residents’ Group were so impressed by the help they have received from the youngsters, aged between three and 13, in getting involved in litter picks that they decided to throw the party on Friday 21st December for them.

Funding for the event, which will also include face painting, games and a disco – as well as the presence of a present-giving Father Christmas, has come from the Babergh Crime & Disorder reduction Partnership, the Babergh Tenants’ Forum and the Reverend Jamie Allen, Vicar of St. Andrew’s Church, Great Cornard.

According to Peter Swinney, Babergh District Council’s Estate Ranger who is responsible for dealing with day-to-day issues for the authority’s tenants and who has co-ordinated the youngsters’ voluntary efforts, “this is a seasonal way of saying ‘thanks’ to a really public-spirited group. The efforts of these young people to keep their neighbourhood clean has made a real difference to the quality of other residents’ lives and should be applauded”.
According to Amy Ross, 13, who lives in Minsmere Way “I have enjoyed all the activities throughout the year and particularly enjoyed helping the younger children. It was great fun”.

The Christmas event takes place between 1pm and 4pm on Friday 21st December
