Youngsters in Babergh are urged to take part in a sporting showcase day.
The 2012 Olympic Showcase Day will include taster sessions for different sports and is being held all day on Thursday, 20th December from 10am until 4pm at Centre in Highlands Road, Hadleigh.
All the sessions, which are being organised by Babergh District Council in partnership with Hadleigh Leisure Centre, are free and are open to youngsters aged from eight to 16, and of all abilities – able bodied or disabled.
Sue Longhurst, Babergh’s Community Development Officer (Sport), said: “This event is giving young people the opportunity to try a sport or activity that they might not have taken part in – or heard of – before.
“Most of the taster sessions included have a club, which operates within the Hadleigh area, affliated with it, so if they like the session then there is the opportunity to join up.
“Those without clubs attached could be set up – if there was enough interest.
“We may discover a new sporting prodigy who competes in London’s 2012 Olympics and we would be delighted with that. Equally if it just introduces more youngsters to different sports, then we would be just as thrilled.”
All places at the taster sessions on 20th December need to be booked in advance. To secure your place, call Hadleigh Leisure Centre on (01473) 824441. Forms can be returned on the day.
