Boring summer holidays could be a thing of the past as Babergh District Council publishes its new summer activities programme.
A wide range of events are planned for the six-week holiday period and will be taking place right across the district from Holbrook to Sudbury and Copdock to Glemsford, starting from Monday, July 23.
Children, from six to 18 years old, can choose from a range of activities including Samba Soccer Skills, Basketball, mobile skate park, multi-sports and street football.
Sue Longhurst, Babergh’s Community Development Officer (Sport), said: “Babergh’s activities are an excellent way for children to stay entertained and, most importantly, active throughout the summer holidays.
“The sessions, which are open to children of all abilities, will be packed full of fun and children will be learning new skills at the same time.”
All sessions are part of the Pay and Play Scheme – anyone can turn up and join in the fun, no booking is required. Cost is £1.50 per session
Babergh is also hosting a Kick It! Summer football programme alongside the summer activities, which has been funded by the Western Suffolk Strategic Partnership.
The sessions, which take place across Sudbury in variety of locations, is free to children from eight until 18.
As well as the planned activities, Babergh is still running its popular weekly Samba Soccer Skills workshops.
Boys - and girls – can learn the moves at Great Cornard Sports Centre every Friday from 5pm until 6pm for six to ten-year-olds and from 6pm until 7pm for ten to 16-year-olds. Cost is £3.
They are also being held at Glemsford on Thursdays from 5pm-6pm. Cost is £1, as it is part-funded by the Babergh Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
More information about summer activities can be found on the School Holiday Schemes page of Babergh's website or call general enquiries on (01473) 826622.
Please note: Children aged six to eight must be accompanied by an adult at all times. ENDS
