Babergh District Councillors have elected the new Chairmen of its Committees for the next 12 months.
At a full council meeting, held on May 17th, Councillors voted for the following as Chairmen of their respective Committees:
- Cllr Rex Thake, Chairman of the Council
- Cllr Jennie Jenkins, Vice-Chairman of the Council
- Cllr Nick Ridley, Chairman of the Strategy Committee
- Cllr David Busby, Chairman of Overview & Scrutiny (Stewardship)
- Cllr James Long, Chairman of Overview & Scrutiny (Community Services)
- Cllr John Hinton, Chairman of Development
- Cllr Brian Lazenby, Chairman of Licensing and Appeals
- Cllr Desmond Keane, Chairman of Hadleigh & District Swimming Pool Trust Committee
These experienced Councillors have spent dozens of years in representing Babergh’s residents and their best interests.
Cllr Thake said: “Babergh has been fortunate that so many people are willing to give up their time and offer their skills and expertise in serving their communities. Babergh faces a number of challenges in the years ahead, not least in balancing the need to constantly improve services with the desire to keep Council Tax increases as low as possible, but I am hopeful that all 43 Councillors, regardless of party, will work hard to achieve this”.
The Members of the Standards Committee will elect their Chairman at their next scheduled meeting.
