A special screening of former US Vice President Al Gore’s film on climate change is to be shown in a bid to encourage local people to reduce their carbon footprints.
Babergh is funding the showing of An Inconvenient Truth as part of a CRed Suffolk’s project to highlight the growing issue of carbon reductions to local householders, community groups and businesses.
The award-winning film on global warming catapulted the issue of climate change to the forefront of the media spotlight last year.
Since then the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has provided a copy of the film for every secondary school in the country.
A free low-energy light bulb will be given to everyone who attends the film and agrees to pledge to reduce their carbon footprints
Jonas Grist, Babergh’s Technical Officer (Waste), said: “The evening will highlight that we all need to learn to adapt to a different climate because of greater chance of summer heatwaves, increased flooding risk, storm events, and drought.”
An Inconvenient Truth will be screened in The Ansell Community Centre, Market Place, Hadleigh on Thursday, June 7 at 7.30pm. Entry is free and there is no need to book in advance.
