Residents who are suffering anti-social behaviour from graffiti to congregating youths will soon be getting more help.
Babergh District Council is about to launch two extra ways of reporting anti-social behaviour with a single phone number and website e-form – but it needs residents to make it a success.
From this week, members of the public concerned about community safety will be able to use either of these two methods to let Babergh know about the issues that are affecting them.
This new way of reporting anti-social behaviour is aimed at better equipping the District Council to deal with community safety issues.
Paul Little, Babergh’s Community Safety Manager, said: “We can only do something about the issue of anti-social behaviour if the people of Babergh work with us by letting us know what's happening.
“A member of Babergh’s Community Safety Team will look at every single report and the information will be logged and used, in conjunction with information reported to the Police, to make sure our joint resources are focused in the right areas.
“Where there are persistent and serious anti-social behaviour problems, Babergh will contact the person reporting the problem and work with them and anybody else affected to resolve the issue.
“Babergh officers can't be everywhere at all times. With your information we can start tackling these issues together.”
At the moment, there are a number of routes through which reports of anti-social behaviour get picked up. Creating a single point of contact for the public will enable better collection of information and thereby more effective action.
If you are concerned with anti-social behaviour, then use the e-form on the Anti-social Behaviour webpage or call (01473) 826622. ENDS
