HADLEIGH NORTH BY-ELECTION: CANDIDATES NAMED

Nominations closed today (12th October) at noon for the by-election to elect a replacement councillor for the Hadleigh North Ward of Babergh District Council.

Nominations closed today (12th October) at noon for the by-election to elect a replacement councillor for the Hadleigh North Ward of Babergh District Council.

The by-election was caused by the resignation of David Warner.

The following persons have been nominated:

  • Peter Burgoyne (Conservative)
  • Jan Byrne (Independent)
  • Reginald Smith (UK Independence Party)
  • Richard Whiting (Liberal Democrat)

Those wishing to apply for a postal vote need to submit their forms by 5pm on Wednesday 24th October. These are available either by calling Babergh’s Electoral Registration Team on (01473) 825713 or can be downloaded from the Voting by Post or Proxy page of the Council’s website.

Equally, as the Electoral Register being used is up-to-date as of 1st September 2007, anyone who is eligible and wishes to be added to it after that date needs to submit an application to register before midnight on Wednesday 24th October. Forms can be obtained from the Electoral Registration Team.

Polling will take place on Thursday 8th November at Hadleigh Town Hall from 7am to 10pm.

A vacancy for Hadleigh Town Council has been filled by Tracey Alexander as she was the only nomination to be received.
