SPREADING THE SAFER MESSAGE FROM SHOTLEY TO SOMERTON

Summary

Over the next two weeks a partnership aimed at making community safety and crime prevention services better suited to the needs of local communities is spreading its message across the whole of the Babergh district.

Over the next two weeks a partnership aimed at making community safety and crime prevention services better suited to the needs of local communities is spreading its message across the whole of the Babergh district.

The five Babergh Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) which bring together not only the Police and Babergh District and Suffolk County Councils but voluntary and faith groups as well – are due to be launched on Monday 22nd October at Lavenham Village Hall.

According to Cllr. Dave Wood, Babergh Councillor and Vice Chair of the Suffolk Police Authority “overall, Babergh is a safe place to live, yet the perception of crime and the incidents of certain types of crime – especially of anti-social behaviour in some areas - is a cause for concern”.

“The aim of the Babergh SNTs is to ensure that local communities, from Somerton in the west of the district to Shotley on the east coast, have more of a say as to how anti-crime measures are implemented. This will be achieved through better public consultation to pinpoint specific local priorities”.

The launch of the Babergh SNTs brings together all of the representatives of the key partners involved in the scheme.
