BABERGH NEEDS RESIDENTS’ INPUT TO PLAN HOUSING.

Summary

Are you a council tenant, waiting to get on the property ladder or a homeowner in Babergh? Now’s your chance to help shape future housing policies with your opinions and experiences.

Are you a council tenant, waiting to get on the property ladder or a homeowner in Babergh? Now’s your chance to help shape future housing policies with your opinions and experiences.

Around 8,000 randomly-selected households across Babergh will receive a questionnaire next week, as part of the research for a Housing Needs Survey, asking for housing-related information ranging from the type of housing you currently occupy to what your future housing requirements may be.

Questionnaires will also be sent to town and parish councils and councillors so they are aware that local people may be asked to participate in the survey.

Results collected will be used to help Babergh District Council plan future housing policies and ensure that housing delivered is of the right size, type and in the right locations to meet current and future housing needs.

The last survey was carried out in 2004 and now more updated information is necessary.

Ian Tippett, Babergh’s Strategic Housing Manager, said: “The information gathered from this questionnaire is vital in helping us to identify what housing need there will be in the future and is also key in forming future housing policies for the Babergh district.

“We would urge anyone who receives one of these forms to take some time, answer the questions and return it by the deadline date - your opinions and experiences really do matter.”

David Couttie Associates (DCA), an independent company specialising in housing research, has been commissioned to carry out the survey and collate the results.

The results from the survey will be available from autumn 2008 and will be posted on Babergh’s website.

The deadline for completed entry forms is July 16th. All responses will be treated in the strictest confidence and Babergh will not be able to identify individual people or properties.

For more information on completing the questionnaire please call DCA on 0800 169 7865 (freephone) or Babergh’s housing customer services on (01473) 825757. ENDS
