FANCY A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE……?

Summary

Were you a whizz at goal defence, a natural goal shooter or did you prefer the freedom of playing centre in your schooldays?
Were you a whizz at goal defence, a natural goal shooter or did you prefer the freedom of playing centre in your schooldays?

If you can answer yes to any of the above questions, then Babergh District Council has just the series of sporting sessions for you!

As part of a range of Get Back Into sessions, aimed at getting adults who played sport at school back onto the court, Babergh is hosting a series of netball and badminton dates across the district for the next five weeks.

There is no minimum ability level – anyone can turn up and play – and many sessions are free of charge in a bid to encourage more people back into the games.

Sue Longhurst, Babergh District Council’s Community Development Officer (sport), said: “This is an ideal opportunity for people who played netball or badminton at school to take it up again.

“Equally, as there is no minimum ability level, it would be good for people who would just like to have a go and see if they like it.

“And, to top it off, it’s an excellent way to meet new people, get fit and have a laugh – so there is no excuse!”

There are two badminton courses running – one at the East Bergholt Leisure Centre, every Friday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm for the next five weeks and one at Great Cornard Leisure Centre, every Sunday from 10am-12pm for the next five weeks. The East Bergholt session is free and adults pay £3.50 per session at Great Cornard.

The netball course is also being held at the Great Cornard Leisure Centre (outside courts), every Tuesday from 7pm until 8pm for the next five weeks. Entry is free.

If you would like more information on any of the sessions mentioned above, or to book a place at one of the sessions, please call Sue Longhurst on (01473) 826656 or email sue.longhurst@babergh.gov.uk. ends
