Summary

Community groups and parishes across part of Babergh could be in line to receive much-needed cash boosts from a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) grant programme.
Community groups and parishes across part of Babergh could be in line to receive much-needed cash boosts from a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) grant programme.

Local groups and charities are being urged to apply in a bid to secure their slice of grant fund.

Bids are being sought for projects from parish councils and community groups that promote young people’s participation in positive activities, adult participation in sport and recreation, help for vulnerable people to achieve independent living and improving the area’s natural or historic environment

Preference will be given to applicants where it is demonstrated there is a high degree of volunteer involvement and where other funding is also in place.

Cllr Penny Clarke, Chairman of the LSP, said: “This is the fourth round of small community grants from the LSP.

“Parish Councils and voluntary groups can apply for money for small local projects that could make a real difference to a community.

“If you want to improve your village pond, help people get more active or set up a lunch club then this fund could help you.”

The Babergh East LSP has dished out nearly £50,000 in funding to a variety of projects since 2007.

Tim Mutum, Babergh’s Project and Programme Executive and the LSP's co-ordinator, said: "I would be pleased to talk to any organisation to explain the fund in more detail but bidding is easy so I would urge local communities to have a go and try and secure money for their area.

“Decisions should be made before the end of the year so successful applicants will get a nice boost just before Christmas!"
