Building Control

Summary

General information on Building Control and the Building Regulations.

Babergh Building Control’s primary objective is to secure a safe and healthy built environment for the benefit of the community.

We have a professionally qualified team of surveyors and technical officers supported by experienced administration staff to provide you with information and advice on the Building Regulations and other Building Control functions.

The Building Regulations lay down standards of construction which are mainly concerned with protecting the health and safety of building users, conserving energy and providing access and facilities for people with disablities. Guidance on meeting the required standard can be found in the Approved Documents to the Building Regulations. These are available on the Planning Portal website.

The Building Control Section also have responsibility for Dangerous Structures and Demolitions.
