Appeal against an excess charge notice

The Council receives frequent and varied representations to have excess charge notices cancelled. It is extremely difficult to adjudicate on these, while at the same time providing a fair and even system for all users. The Council therefore has a policy of only cancelling excess charge notices if they arise from a specific problem with the ticket machinery, or involve truly exceptional circumstances.

If you wish to appeal against your excess charge notice, you can submit an Appeal Form on-line. 

The form is one and a half pages long and will take approximately three minutes to complete.

• Your details
• The reason for your appeal

While the appeal is being considered, the deadline for paying will be frozen until such time as a decision is reached. We will respond to your appeal within 10 working days of its receipt. 
If your appeal is unsuccessful you must pay £15 within 7 days of notification, failing which the penalty will increase to £45.
